Lovable Now Uses Free and Pro Plan Data for AI Training Unless You Opt Out
Since 9 September 2026, Lovable may use customer data from Free and Pro plans to train AI models unless users opt out in Account settings → Privacy. Business and Enterprise workspaces are excluded by default. What that covers, how to opt out, and what to think about if your app handles client or customer data.
Lovable announced at the end of July that, starting 9 September 2026, it may use customer data from Free and Pro plans for AI model training unless users opt out. That date has passed — if you build on Lovable's Free or Pro plan and haven't changed the setting, it's on.
Who's affected
| Plan | Default |
|---|---|
| Free | Data may be used for training — opt out to stop |
| Pro | Data may be used for training — opt out to stop |
| Business, Enterprise | Excluded from training by default |
How to opt out
Go to Account settings → Privacy and turn off the training option. Lovable renamed these controls in August and gave the workspace-level toggle its own section, so look for both your personal and workspace settings.
Why it matters
Your Lovable project isn't just your prompts. It can include:
- Your app's source code and business logic.
- Descriptions of your customers, pricing and plans you wrote in prompts.
- Client work — if you're a freelancer building for someone else, their product details. (Hand Off an AI-Built App to a Client)
If you've signed an NDA or a contract with confidentiality terms, or your app is for a regulated area (health, finance, children), you probably need to opt out — or move the work to a plan that excludes training by default. (GDPR Basics for App Builders, Who Owns AI-Generated Code?)
The wider pattern
Lovable isn't alone. Bolt's new Forge agent offers much higher usage in exchange for opting in to share anonymised build sessions for training open models (Teams and Enterprise excluded). Many AI tools differ in training defaults between consumer and business tiers. (Bolt Forge)
Good habits for any AI builder:
- Read the data-use settings when you sign up, and again when terms change.
- Keep secrets out of prompts — never paste API keys, passwords or real customer records. (Hide API Keys in an AI-Built App)
- Use business tiers for client work where training is off by default.
- Keep your code in GitHub so you can move tools if terms stop suiting you. (Export a Lovable Project to GitHub)
