Claude Max and Team Plans Now Include Monthly API Credits
Since 7 October 2026, Claude Max and Team subscriptions include monthly Claude API credits: $100 on Max 5x, $200 on Max 20x, and up to $500 pooled on Team. What they cover (API, Agent SDK, Managed Agents — not Claude Code), how to claim them by linking a Console organisation, and the expiry rules.
On 7 October 2026, Anthropic started including monthly Claude API credits with Claude Max and Team plans. If you're on one of those plans and building anything with the API, this is free money you have to claim.
How much
| Plan | Monthly API credit |
|---|---|
| Max 5x | $100 |
| Max 20x | $200 |
| Team, Standard seat | $20 per seat |
| Team, Premium seat | $100 per seat |
Team credits are pooled into one balance, capped at $500 a month. Discounted Team plans (nonprofit, scientists) get the same per-seat amounts. Free, Pro and Enterprise plans aren't eligible, and new subscribers can claim after 7 days on an eligible plan.
What they cover
| Covered | Not covered |
|---|---|
| Claude API | Claude Code |
| Claude Managed Agents | Extra usage in the Claude apps |
| Claude Agent SDK | Bedrock, Google Cloud, Foundry, Claude Platform on AWS |
| Console playground |
Claude Code keeps using your plan's normal usage limits; these credits don't change them.
How to claim
- On claude.ai, open Settings → Billing (Max) or Organization settings → Billing (Team).
- In API credits, choose the Claude Console organisation to receive them, and accept the terms.
- Credits appear in the Console under Settings → Billing → Promotional credits. Create an API key and start building. (Get a Claude API Key)
Choose the organisation carefully — each plan links to one Console organisation and you can't change it yourself.
The rules
- No rollover: unused credit expires at the end of each billing cycle.
- Spent first: included credits are used before any credits you've bought.
- Shared within the organisation: every key and workspace draws from the same balance. Give side projects their own workspace with a spend limit.
- When they run out, API requests stop unless you have purchased credits or auto-reload — usage is never charged to your Claude plan.
- Linking also moves the organisation up to at least the Start tier (Build tier for credits over $200), which raises rate limits.
What to build with them
$100 a month goes a long way on Haiku 5.5 ($0.10 per million input tokens) — enough for classification, summaries or a small AI feature in your app. (Claude Haiku 5.5 Released, How to Build an AI App)
